How it's calculated
Unattempted questions score zero. Fractions are kept exact and the total is rounded once, to two decimals.
Estimate only. Official results, marks and eligibility are decided by the Union Public Service Commission. Verify on the official website.
Worked example: IMA, INA and Air Force Academy
English: 96 right, 12 wrong; General Knowledge: 96 right, 12 wrong; Elementary Mathematics: 80 right, 10 wrong. Total: 230 out of 300.

Using your score
- Count right and wrong answers from the official answer key for a reliable score.
- The notification prints the maximum marks for each paper but not the number of questions. The counts used here are read from the official question papers for CDS (II) 2026, which are numbered to 120 for English and General Knowledge and to 100 for Elementary Mathematics.
- A question left blank carries no penalty, so an unattempted question is never worse than a wrong one.
Frequently asked questions
What is the negative marking in CDS 2026?
IMA, INA and Air Force Academy: +5/6 for a right answer, −5/18 for a wrong one; +1 for a right answer, −1/3 for a wrong one. Officers' Training Academy: +5/6 for a right answer, −5/18 for a wrong one.
What are the total marks in IMA, INA and Air Force Academy?
300 marks: English (120 questions), General Knowledge (120 questions), Elementary Mathematics (100 questions).
Is an unattempted question marked negatively?
No. Only wrong answers carry a penalty. A question left blank scores zero.
How do I count my right and wrong answers?
Compare your responses with the official answer key published by the exam body. Count only the questions you marked: those matching the key are right, the rest are wrong.
How much is deducted for a wrong answer in CDS?
One third of the marks assigned to that question, in the notification’s own words. That is not the same as a third of a mark: English and General Knowledge carry 100 marks over 120 questions, so each question is worth 5/6 of a mark and a wrong answer costs 5/18, about 0.28. Elementary Mathematics is 100 marks over 100 questions, so there a wrong answer costs exactly 1/3.
Which papers do I sit?
For the Indian Military Academy, the Indian Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy, all three papers: English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics, 300 marks in total. For the Officers’ Training Academy, only English and General Knowledge, 200 marks in total.
Does marking more than one answer count as wrong?
Yes. The notification says that if you give more than one answer it is treated as a wrong answer, and the same penalty applies, even if one of the answers you marked happens to be correct.
Do the interview marks count towards this total?
No. This calculator scores the written examination only. The notification sets the maximum marks for the interview equal to the written examination — 300 for the IMA, INA and Air Force Academy and 200 for the OTA — and those are awarded separately at the Services Selection Board.
