Your score

Enter your right and wrong answers.

Blank questions score zero. Official scores of multi-shift exams may be normalised.

How it's calculated

Score = (Right × marks per question) − (Wrong × penalty)
Fractions such as 1/3 are kept exact; the score is rounded once, to two decimals.

Estimate only. Official results, marks and eligibility are decided by the body that conducts your exam. Verify on the official website.

Worked example: 100 questions, +2 and −0.5

70 right and 20 wrong: 70 × 2 = 140, minus 20 × 0.5 = 10, gives 130 out of 200. The 10 blank questions cost nothing.

Reading your score

  • Your raw score only matches the official one if your answers match the final answer key.
  • Exams held in many shifts often normalise scores, so the official figure can differ.
  • Qualifying marks and cut-offs are separate: see each exam's own calculator for those.

Frequently asked questions

How is negative marking calculated?

Score = (right answers × marks per question) − (wrong answers × penalty per wrong answer). Questions you leave blank score zero.

What does "one-third negative marking" mean?

One-third of the marks for that question is taken off for a wrong answer. For a 2-mark question that is 2/3 of a mark; for a 1-mark question it is 1/3. Enter it as a fraction like 2/3 for an exact result.

Is it worth guessing when there is negative marking?

With four options and a penalty of one-third of the marks, a blind guess averages out to zero. With a smaller penalty, such as 0.25 of a 1-mark question, a blind guess averages slightly above zero. Ruling out options improves the odds. This is arithmetic, not exam advice.

What is the negative marking in SSC exams?

In SSC CGL and CHSL Tier-I 2026, 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer (each question carries 2 marks); in Tier-II Paper-I it is 1 mark (each question carries 3). In SSC GD 2026 it is 0.25 (each question carries 2).

What is the negative marking in UPSC prelims?

One-third of the marks for that question: 2/3 of a mark in GS Paper I (2 marks a question) and 5/6 of a mark in CSAT (2.5 marks a question).

Does marking two answers count as wrong?

In UPSC prelims, yes: marking more than one answer is treated as wrong and penalised. Check your exam’s instructions for its rule.
