How it's calculated

Score = (right × marks per question) − (wrong × penalty per wrong answer)

Marks for right answers are added up. This exam takes nothing off for a wrong answer, so there is no reason to leave a question blank.

Estimate only. Official results, marks and eligibility are decided by the Uttarakhand Board of School Education. Verify on the official website.

Worked example

UTET Paper I (classes I–V) with 18 right and 6 wrong: 18 × 1 − 6 × 0 = 90 out of 150.

  • In Paper II, answer either the Mathematics and Science block or the Social Studies block (60 questions); enter your marks for the one you chose.

Frequently asked questions

Is there negative marking in UTET?

No. The UBSE brochure says no negative marks are given for any question. Every question carries 1 mark, so attempt every question.

What are the UTET pass marks?

60% (90 of 150) for general candidates; 50% (75) for OBC, PwD, dependants of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen (self); 40% (60) for SC and ST candidates, including SC/ST candidates who are also PwD.

Is the UTET 2026 answer key out?

Yes. UTET-I and UTET-II were held on 29 September 2026, and UBSE published provisional answer keys for all four sets of both papers on 5 October 2026, with objections open on ukutet.com until 15 October 2026. The keys are linked under Sources below; use the one for your set to count your right answers, then enter them above.

How long is a UTET certificate valid?

For life. A Uttarakhand government order of 28 June 2021 extended validity from 7 years to lifelong, with effect from 11 February 2011.

Can I use a TET from another state in Uttarakhand?

No. The brochure says candidates who passed another state's TET are not eligible for appointment in Uttarakhand; CTET-qualified candidates are eligible.

How many questions are there and how long is the paper?

150 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each in 2 hours 30 minutes, for both Paper I and Paper II (UBSE information brochure 2026, clause 3).
