How it's calculated
Unattempted questions score zero. Fractions are kept exact and the total is rounded once, to two decimals.
Estimate only. Official results, marks and eligibility are decided by the National Testing Agency. Verify on the official website.
Worked example: CUET (UG) test paper (any subject)
Test paper (language, domain subject or General Aptitude Test): 40 right, 5 wrong. Total: 195 out of 250.
CUET (UG) 2026 exam pattern and marking
CUET (UG) test paper (any subject)
| Section | Questions | Marks each | Wrong answer | Max marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Test paper (language, domain subject or General Aptitude Test) | 50 | 5 | −1 | 250 |
Every test paper: 50 questions, all compulsory, 60 minutes (20 minutes per hour extra for eligible PwBD candidates). Correct +5, incorrect -1, unanswered 0. If more than one option is correct, +5 to those who marked any correct option; if a question is dropped or has no correct option, +5 to every candidate who appeared. Up to five subjects. Papers held in multiple shifts are converted to NTA scores by the equipercentile method.
Using your score
- Count right and wrong answers from the official answer key for a reliable score.
- Each subject is a separate 50-question paper of 250 marks; calculate each subject on its own.
- University cut-offs and merit lists use NTA scores, not the raw marks.
Frequently asked questions
What is the negative marking in CUET (UG) 2026?
CUET (UG) test paper (any subject): +5 for a right answer, −1 for a wrong one.
What are the total marks in CUET (UG) test paper (any subject)?
250 marks: Test paper (language, domain subject or General Aptitude Test) (50 questions).
Is an unattempted question marked negatively?
No. Only wrong answers carry a penalty. A question left blank scores zero.
How do I count my right and wrong answers?
Compare your responses with the official answer key published by the exam body. Count only the questions you marked: those matching the key are right, the rest are wrong.
Is my CUET raw score the same as my NTA score?
No. When a subject is held in more than one shift, NTA converts raw marks to NTA scores with an equipercentile method: percentiles within each shift, interpolation, then averaging across shifts. Universities use the NTA score, so it can differ from the raw marks this calculator shows. The SSC normalization calculator on this site walks through the same three steps.
How many questions do I have to answer in each CUET paper?
All 50. The 2026 bulletin says every test paper has 50 questions, all compulsory, in 60 minutes. Since a wrong answer costs 1 mark and a right one gives 5, leaving a question you cannot narrow down is still an option.
What happens if a CUET question is dropped?
Everyone who appeared gets 5 marks for it, whether they attempted it or not. If more than one option is correct, those who marked any correct option get 5.
