Frequently asked questions
What is the salary of RRB Group D (Level 1) posts?
RRB Group D (Level 1) posts are in Pay Level 1 of the 7th CPC matrix, with entry basic pay from ₹18,000. With DA at 60%, HRA and Transport Allowance, in-hand pay after NPS is about ₹29,160 to ₹33,480 a month, before income tax.
What is the in-hand salary of Assistant TRD?
It is a Level 1 post with entry basic pay of ₹18,000. In an X-class city with the higher Transport Allowance, gross pay is ₹36,360 and in-hand after NPS is ₹33,480 a month at DA 60%.
Does the salary depend on the city?
Yes. HRA is 30%, 20% or 10% of basic pay in X, Y and Z cities, and Transport Allowance is higher in 19 listed cities. Basic pay and DA are the same everywhere.
Are special allowances included?
No. Some railway posts get extra allowances, such as Risk and Hardship Allowance for Track Maintainers or National Holiday Allowance. This calculator includes only DA, HRA and Transport Allowance, which the Railway Board pays at the same rates as the central government.
How much does salary grow each year?
Each annual increment moves you one cell down your pay Level, about 3% more basic pay. DA is revised twice a year.
Is railway salary the same as central government salary?
For basic pay, DA, HRA and Transport Allowance, yes. The Railway Services (Revised Pay) Rules use the same pay matrix, and the Railway Board orders (RBE 71/2017 for HRA, RBE 81/2017 and 96/2017 for Transport Allowance, and a separate order for each DA revision) give the same rates. Some railway posts get extra allowances on top.
When does a Level 1 employee get the higher Transport Allowance?
Once basic pay reaches ₹24,200, which in Level 1 is the 11th cell. RBE 96/2017 then pays ₹3,600 plus DA in the 19 listed cities and ₹1,800 plus DA elsewhere, instead of ₹1,350 or ₹900.
