How it's calculated
Unattempted questions score zero. The calculator keeps fractions exact and rounds the total once, to two decimal places.
Estimate only. Official results, marks and eligibility are decided by the Staff Selection Commission. Verify on the official website.
Worked example: Tier-I, 20 right and 3 wrong in every section
Each section: 20 × 2 = 40, minus 3 × 0.5 = 1.5, gives 38.5. Four sections give 154 out of 200. The UR qualifying mark is 60 (30%), so this score clears it.
SSC CGL 2026 exam pattern and marking

| English Comprehension | 25 | 2 | −0.5 | 50 |
Minimum qualifying marks (para 16.1): UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, all other categories 20%. Tier-II shortlisting uses category-wise cut-offs set after the exam.
SSC CGL Tier-II Paper-I (Sections I and II)
| Section | Questions | Marks each | Wrong answer | Max marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematical Abilities | 30 | 3 | −1 | 90 |
| Reasoning and General Intelligence | 30 | 3 | −1 | 90 |

| General Awareness | 25 | 3 | −1 | 75 |

Using your score
- Count right and wrong answers from the official answer key, not from memory, for a reliable score.
- Qualifying marks are a floor. Who goes to Tier-II depends on category-wise cut-offs fixed after the exam, and on post-specific cut-offs for JSO and Statistical Investigator.
- If your exam was held in several shifts, SSC normalises the marks, and the normalised score decides merit and cut-offs.
Frequently asked questions
What is the negative marking in SSC CGL 2026?
Tier-I: 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer (each question carries 2 marks). Tier-II Paper-I: 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer in Sections I, II and III (each question carries 3 marks). Papers II and III: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.
What are the total marks in SSC CGL Tier-I?
200 marks: four sections of 25 questions each (Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English), 2 marks per question.
What are the minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I?
UR 30%, OBC and EWS 25%, and all other categories 20%. Qualifying marks are the minimum; the cut-off to reach Tier-II is decided category-wise after the exam and is usually higher.
How are Tier-II Paper-I marks counted?
Sections I (Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning) and II (English, General Awareness) carry 390 marks. Section III (Computer Knowledge) and Section IV (Data Entry Speed Test) are qualifying, and each of Sections I, II and III must be qualified separately.
Is unattempted question marked negatively?
No. Only wrong answers carry a penalty. A question left blank scores zero.
Will my calculated score match the official score?
Your raw score will, if your answers match the final answer key. But the notice says marks of exams held in several shifts will be normalised (by the procedure in SSC’s notice of 2 June 2025), and the normalised scores decide merit and cut-offs. So your official marks can differ from your raw score.
