Frequently asked questions

What is the salary of SSC MTS 2025 posts?

What is the in-hand salary of Multi-Tasking Staff (Non-Technical)?

It is a Level 1 post with entry basic pay of ₹18,000. In an X-class city with the higher Transport Allowance, gross pay is ₹36,360 and in-hand after NPS is ₹33,480 a month at DA 60%.

Does the salary depend on the city?

Yes. HRA is 30%, 20% or 10% of basic pay in X, Y and Z cities, and Transport Allowance is higher in 19 listed cities. Basic pay and DA are the same everywhere.

Are special allowances included?

No. Some departments pay extra allowances. This calculator includes only the standard allowances every central government employee gets under the Department of Expenditure orders.

How much does salary grow each year?

Each annual increment moves you one cell down your pay Level, about 3% more basic pay. DA is revised twice a year.

Are MTS and Havaldar paid the same?

Both are in Pay Level 1 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, as the notice states, so the basic pay is the same. What differs is the department and the duties, and Havaldar posts in CBIC and CBN also have a Physical Efficiency Test.

Why does the in-hand figure change with the city?

House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance depend on the classification of your posting city (X, Y or Z), which is why the same basic pay gives different take-home amounts in different places.
