How it's calculated
Every standard is a minimum: a measurement exactly equal to it counts. For the chest, both the unexpanded measurement and the expansion (expanded minus unexpanded) are checked; the expansion must be at least 5 cm.
Estimate only. Official results, marks and eligibility are decided by the recruiting commission. Verify on the official website.
Worked example
A hill-area constable candidate is 161 cm tall (minimum 160) with a chest of 77 cm (minimum 76.3), but 81.5 cm expanded: an expansion of only 4.5 cm (minimum 5). So the candidate does not meet the standard.

Physical efficiency test marks (constable)
A candidate who scores less than 50 per cent of the marks in any item is declared unfit at that stage and is out of the examination. Only candidates who pass the physical efficiency test sit the written examination.
Sit-ups and push-ups are the two parts of one 20-mark item, and the advertisement requires at least 10 marks from the two together. The lowest band in each is 4 marks, so a candidate at the lowest band in both scores 8 and fails this item.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum height for an Uttarakhand Police constable?
Under advertisement 65/2024: 165 cm for general, OBC and SC candidates, 160 cm for hill-area candidates and 157.50 cm for ST candidates.
What chest measurement is needed?
Constable: 78.8 cm unexpanded and 83.8 cm expanded for general, OBC and SC; 76.3 and 81.3 cm for hill-area and ST candidates. At least 5 cm expansion is required.
What are the standards for Sub-Inspector?
Men: height 167.70 cm (ST 160, hill area 162.60), chest 78.8 / 83.8 cm (hill area and ST 76.5 / 81.5). Women: height 152 cm (ST and hill area 147) and minimum weight 45 kg.
Who gets the hill-area relaxation?
Candidates from the hill area as defined in the advertisement, with a hill-area certificate. The definition is on this page.
How many marks is the constable running test worth?
The 3 km run and walk carries 20 marks: 10 marks for 20 minutes, 12 for 18, 14 for 16, 16 for 14, 18 for 12 and the full 20 for 10 minutes.
What is needed to pass the physical efficiency test?
At least 50 per cent of the marks in each item. Sit-ups and push-ups are two parts of one item and need at least 10 marks together — the lowest band in each is 4, so scoring the lowest in both gives 8 and fails that item.
Is the "UK Police" physical test the same as the Uttarakhand Police physical test?
Yes. UK here stands for Uttarakhand, not the United Kingdom. The standards on this page are the Uttarakhand Police ones, taken from UKSSSC constable advertisement 65/2024 and the UKPSC sub-inspector advertisement.
Can women apply for constable?
The latest constable advertisement (65/2024) was for men only. The sub-inspector advertisement has standards for both men and women.
